Our goal is to deliver safe, reliable power to your neighbourhood.  One way we do this is to keep our high voltage power lines and individual residential service lines cleared of vegetation and tree growth.  If not properly maintained, trees can cause power outages or hazardous situations by touching or even falling on hydro lines.

We prune trees and vegetation around hydro lines on a four-year cycle across our service territory, following the Electrical Safety Authority’s (ESA) industry standard of providing a minimum three-metres (10 feet) clearance between branches and primary power lines and one metre (three feet) for secondary lines.

We also consult with customers who want to hire a licensed contractor to remove or plant trees on their private property, to make sure it is safe and clear to do so.  More about customer Tree Trimming and Planting

If you have any concerns about trees or vegetation growing near power lines, please submit the Report a Tree Obstruction Form. Our Customer Care Team and Forestry Crews will be happy to assist you during regular business hours.
