Energy+ and Powerline Technician students from Conestoga College

Cambridge and Ingersoll, ON (February 10, 2022) – Energy+ was amped to support Conestoga College's Powerline Technician Program by donating a bucket truck to enhance the College's fleet of training vehicles. Representatives from Energy+'s Operations Team, including an Energy+ Apprentice who is a recent graduate, were on hand in Ingersoll this week to hand over the keys to the bucket truck.

"We are proud to have many graduates of Conestoga's Powerline Technician Program working at our utility today. We see outstanding value in the program and are happy to contribute to the learning process for the next generation of Powerline Technicians, which is critical for the future of our industry," said Ian Miles, President and CEO of Energy+ Inc.

"Through this amazing donation by Energy+, we can continue to enhance the learning experience, providing students in the Powerline Technician program with valuable experiential, hands-on learning, furthering program excellence, leading to graduate and community success.  We are very proud of our partnership and greatly appreciate this donation and continued support from Energy+, as we continue to provide well-trained students and apprentices to the powerline sector," said Angelo Cosco, Chair of the School of Trades and Apprenticeship.

The single-bucket truck, a Freightliner material handler with a working height of 50 feet, was made available due to Energy+'s practice of replacing older vehicles that are no longer useable commercially. Access to a vehicle of this type and size benefits students by providing them with the opportunity to operate a bucket truck and gain practical work experience.

The donation of the vehicle is part of a broader relationship Energy+ has cultivated with Conestoga College over several years. The utility offers co-op and summer student opportunities in many departments, providing students with a chance to build experience while completing their studies.   Annually, Energy+ presents two Academic Excellence Awards to Conestoga's energy technology students studying Energy Systems Technology and Electrical Engineering Technology.
