Cambridge and Brantford, ON (April 1, 2022) – Brantford Power and Energy+ proudly accepted a joint 2021 Communications Excellence Award from the Electricity Distributors Association (EDA), at a gathering of Ontario’s top-performing electricity distribution companies.  

The award recognizes excellence in the creation, implementation and delivery of a comprehensive community engagement consultation that was undertaken in 2021 to seek public input on the merger of Brantford Power and Energy+.  

“Energy+ is honoured to be recognized by industry peers for the community engagement consultation conducted jointly with Brantford Power, as part of our merger exploration process,” said Ian Miles, President and CEO, Energy+. 

“We proudly accept this award, which is a testament to the collaboration between Brantford Power, Energy+ and our respective shareholders to ensure that our communities were consulted on the merger of our neighbouring local distribution companies,” said Paul Kwasnik, CEO & President, Brantford Power.  

A consistent theme (Energizing Our Future) and corresponding imagery were used throughout the campaign which included a variety of engagement activities to support a robust and transparent consultation and outreach to key stakeholders.  

Brantford Power and Energy+ have received approval from the Ontario Energy Board to merge and will officially join together to form GrandBridge Energy in the second quarter of 2022. GrandBridge Energy, the seventh-largest municipally-owned electricity distributor in Ontario, will service more than 109,000 residential and business customers in Brantford, Cambridge, Brant County and North Dumfries.
