Community Living Cambridge celebrates the arrival of Real Babies for the new Parenting Program

December 20, 2018, Cambridge, Ontario – Energy+ and its employees once again showed their generosity in our communities. In 2018, over $82,000 in sponsorships, corporate donations and employee fundraising, helped boost services for those in need in our communities.

Corporate donations went to ‘legacy’ initiatives, including local playground projects, Paris Parks Foundation, Langs, Cambridge Memorial Hospital Foundation, and The Sunshine Foundation of Canada.

Community Living Cambridge, an agency that supports individuals with developmental disabilities, received a corporate donation from Energy+, which enabled the organization to purchase two Real Care Babies to kick start a new Parenting Program.  According to Denise Gruber, Executive Director at Community Living Cambridge, “With these training aids, people who are wondering about having children, or are young, soon-to-be parents, now have the opportunity to realistically experience a baby’s real life requirements.  Thanks to Energy + for partnering with us and investing in this dream that will make a difference in many lives.”

Corporate sponsorships and in-kind gifts were directed to 40 local community groups. The company donated to the United Way Waterloo Region Communities and Brant United Way, through payroll pledges, an employer matching contribution, as well as a number of engaging employee-organized events held throughout the year.

Employees wore their jeans in support of local agencies, including Haven House, Heart & Stroke, The Lung Association, Cambridge Shelter, Nutrition for Learning, St. Monica House, Lissard House, Sick Kids Foundation, Oncology Unit at CMH, Breast Cancer Society, Salvation Army and the local SPCAs.

Energy+ employees volunteered over 400 hours of their time, at a number of community and fundraising events throughout the year..
